Apprentice Program

Western Canadian Steel is offering an apprenticeship program to those who are motivated for a career in steel building construction industry, who are passionate about their work, take pride in safety, quality workmanship, and are looking to continually develop their career in the Steel Building industry. There is a lot of room in our company for growth and opportunity for dedicated workers. WCS works locally in the Okanagan, AB, SK, MB and all over BC.

WCS is looking for young people that are new to the steel business but have a construction background. We are willing to train in the field. Starting wage is $18-$22 and we offer a benefits package including vision care, and dental after 6 months of employment. YOU will be required to obtain all required tickets prior to employment.

We require you to have the following:

• AWP (All Work Platform)
• Fall Arrest
• CSTS
• OSSA tickets for AWP/ Fall Arrest for Oil sands work
• First Aid
• Possess your own tools- please contact the office for full tool list
• Have own PPE
• Pass drug and alcohol test-on going
• Drivers License
• Must be in good physical shape and not afraid of heights

It is an asset to have knowledge in:

• Reading blueprints/ drawings
• Standing seam SSR roofing systems
• Building steel frame openings
• Wall cladding and trim work ect.
